Emergency Transportation

BestCare’s Emergency Services utilizes Mobile Intensive Care Units (MICU) staffed with Paramedics. An MICU ambulance is the most effective tool in EMS for handling victims with heart failure, stroke, seizure, acute coma, and many other chronic or acute emergencies.

All MICU Units are staffed with Paramedics who are PALS, ACLS, and ITLS certified.

  • PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support             PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) is a certification needed for advanced pediatric care.  With this certification, medics have the knowledge and skills to better recognize and treat critically ill infants and children who are experiencing respiratory or cardiac arrest thus resulting in improved outcomes.  With the PALS certification, medics are able to provide treatment beyond the first few emergency minutes and go through the stabilization and transport phases of a pediatric emergency, in or out of the hospital. For example, medics are able to use a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, effectively manage the respiratory and cardiac emergency, defibrillate and synchronize cardioversion, use intraosseous access for emergency drugs and fluid bolus administration. Our medics are required to keep their skills current through extensive continue education based on ECC and AHA guidelines every two years.

  • ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support             Advanced Cardiac Life Support or Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is a certification needed for urgent treatment of cardiac arrest and other life threatening medical emergencies.  Our medics have the extensive medical knowledge and rigorous hands-on training and practice required to master ACLS. Only qualified health care providers can provide ACLS as it requires the ability to manage the patient’s airway, initiate IV access, read and interpret electrocardiograms, and understand emergency pharmacology. Our medics are required to keep their skills current with ever changing patient demographics every two years through continued education.

  • ITLS – International Trauma Life Support            International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) is a global certification needed   by medics to better care for trauma patients. ITLS certificate calls for rapid assessment, appropriate intervention and identification of immediate life threats.  A global certification means highly trained medics providing the care needed safely for our community. Medics go through a complex training program aimed at preventing death and disability through education and emergency room care. ITLS certification is endorsed by ANCEP (American College of Emergency Physicians) and NAEMSP (National Association of EMS Physicians). Although not required by all states and companies, our medics are at an advantage with this certification because it has been proven that ITLS certification provides the skills needed to improve quality trauma care, mortality and morbidity rates. Recertification is needed every year.
